Washington resident transported to UIHC after being hit by car that crashed into house

A Washington resident was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Monday morning after being struck by a car that crashed into a house.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 87-year-old Ferdinand Joseph Marie of Washington was driving on the United Presbyterian Home Campus at 9:15am when his 2004 GMC Yukon left the road for an unknown reason and crashed into a house on Elm Court. The SUV went into the structure, striking 71-year-old Tonnie Ray Crile, who was inside. Crile was taken to the UIHC with unspecified injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
