Early voting begins Monday for North Liberty special election

Early voting begins Monday for the special North Liberty city council election.

Ballots can be cast at the Johnson County Auditor’s Office on South Dubuque Street in Iowa City weekdays from 8am to 5pm through Monday, March 14th. They can also be requested by mail, but that request must be received by 5pm Monday.

Voters can also cast ballots from 7 am to 8 pm on election day…Tuesday, March 15th…at the North Liberty Community Center on West Cherry Street.

The three candidates are Ashley Bermel, Samantha Gulick and Robert Strickland.

An open city council seat became available after former Counselor Chris Hoffman was elected mayor. His council seat term expires December 31st, 2023.

The auditor’s office is also hosting early voting on Monday from 8am to 5pm for Tuesday’s special elections in the Clear Creek Amana and Mid-Prairie school districts.
