Iowa Board of Regents member Milt Dakovich has died.

That’s according to Regents president Mike Richards, who announced Dakovich’s death on Friday during an installation ceremony for new University of Iowa president Barbara Wilson at Hancher Auditorium.

Dakovich, who was the longest-tenured current Regent, was appointed to the board by then-governor Terry Branstad in June of 2013. His current term was set to expire in April of 2025.

The Waterloo resident and Iowa State University graduate was 67 years old. A cause of death has not been released.

Dakovich’s replacement will be appointed by Governor Kim Reynolds, and must be approved by the Iowa Senate.
