A North Liberty woman accused of a string of convenience store thefts was arrested this week.
According to police, 20-year-old Tiandra Ball of Shannon Drive committed the alleged thefts at the Kum & Go location on South Gilbert Street. She allegedly was seen on video surveillance walking out of the store with a bottle of Patron tequila.
The criminal complaint says that Ball stole nearly $290 in merchandise on February 1; about $60 on February 7th, and the same amount on February 16th. She was seen leaving the store in a white Chevy Malibu with no plates.
An officer conducted a traffic stop on Ball February 14th because the plate was only displayed in the rear windshield of the vehicle.
The registered owner was contacted, and they said that Ball drives the vehicle. The officer matched the booking photo with the video from Kum & Go and identified her as the suspect. Ball allegedly admitted to the thefts.
A warrant was issued for Ball’s arrest, and she was taken into custody Monday. She’s charged with 4th degree Theft, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to one year if convicted.
