An Iowa City man was arrested after allegedly beaning his father with a bowling pin.

Police responded to Bedford Court Monday at 11:20 pm on reports of a domestic assault. The reporting party was the man who committed the assault. 26-year-old Alexander Mullane stated that he hit his dad in the head with a bowling pin.

The arriving officer observed the victim bleeding significantly from his head, and needed to be ambulanced to a hospital. When interviewed, Mullane said the two were in a verbal argument before he hit his father in the head.

Mullane has been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with the use of a Weapon, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years. A no-contact order was requested between the two involved parties.
