Coralville man arrested on theft warrant after stealing purse

A Coralville man who stole a purse from a woman who gave him a ride has been taken into custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The criminal complaint says that the incident occurred around 1pm on January 14th. The woman victim was giving a ride to 37-year-old Ross Wilson’s 9th Street Apartment. When the two reached his residence, Wilson is accused of snatching the woman’s purse while grabbing his laundry and running into his apartment.

The purse allegedly contained $1900 in cash, her cell phone, driver’s license, social security card, and prescription medications.

Authorities issued a warrant for Wilson’s arrest, and he was apprehended Saturday afternoon. He faces  a 2nd degree Theft charge and could be sent to prison for up to five years if convicted.
