An overnight traffic stop on Highway 218 has led to the arrest of a Linn County man on weapons charges.
Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Dodge Avenger on southbound Highway 218 near the Melrose Avenue exit just before 12:15 Sunday morning. A firearm was found inside the vehicle.
One of the people in the car, identified as 31-year-old Deandre Hudson of Hiawatha, currently has a no-contact order against him, and thus is not allowed to carry a firearm. Nevertheless, he admitted the gun was his.
Hudson was arrested and charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Domestic Abuser. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
