An Iowa City man was arrested this week after he allegedly sold drugs to undercover officers on three separate occasions.

Arrest reports indicate the incident involves 49-year-old Lundell Buchanan of East Court Street. The afternoon of September 16th, the morning of October 8th, and the afternoon of October 13th, the Johnson County Drug Task Force arranged for the purchase of cocaine from Buchanon. The first buy, which took place at the Quarters on Highway 6, involved 3.5 grams; the two October buys took place on the 2200 block of Muscatine Avenue, and involved quantities of 14 and 28 grams, respectively.

The drugs were sent to the DCI lab, where it tested positive for cocaine.

Additionally, Buchanan was wanted for violating the sex offender registry. He allegedly reported his current address on June 15th. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Corrections both visited the residence Buchanan gave them on multiple occasions, only to find that he was not living at that location. The alleged drug buys determined that Buchanan was living with his brother and failed to report his new address.

Warrants were issued for Buchanan’s arrest on February 1st; he was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. He faces three Controlled Substance violations and a second Violation of Sex Offender Registry. If convicted on all charges, Buchanan faces up to 35 years in prison.
