A rollover accident in front of Kent Park has led to the arrest of a Cedar Rapids man.
First responders were dispatched to a 2008 Ford Fusion on its top in the south ditch of Highway 6 NW near the park entrance just before 1:30 Sunday morning. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Eric Jeffries, allegedly smelled of ingested alcohol, showed signs of intoxication, performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a breath alcohol level of .137%.
Jeffries was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense. While waiting for a tow truck, the responding Johnson County deputy reportedly found a bottle of THC gummies inside the vehicle. Jeffries reportedly admitted they were his. He now faces an added charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
If convicted on both charges, Jeffries faces a maximum of three years in jail.
