A Coralville man who was sentenced to 60 days in jail for multiple violations of a no-contact order but got time off for good behavior is accused of violating the order for the second time since being released.
Police say that Monday morning, Iowa City Police responded to a NCO violation in progress. The protected party identified the suspect as 35-year-old Darnell Muldrow of 5th Street. He allegedly tried to open the side door to the residence but it was locked. He then reportedly spent about a half hour pacing around the property before leaving the area on foot.
Officers found Muldrow less than a block from the location, and footprints were found in the protected party’s front yard that reportedly matched the design on the soles of the man’s sneakers.
In December, Muldrow agreed to a plea deal on domestic assault charges from October and was given a 60 day sentence with 50 of those days suspended. He was already serving a 60 day sentence handed down November 30th after violating the no-contact order three times that month. On December 27th, Judge Jason Burns gave Muldrow time off for good behavior.
Muldrow was already wanted after an alleged violation of the order from an incident January 10th. He failed to appear for the January 20th contempt hearing.
Muldrow was taken into custody Monday and charged with another no-contact order violation. An additional no-contact order was issued, and Muldrow was released ahead of a contempt hearing scheduled for February 4th.
