Iowa City Police have arrested a suspect in a shots fired incident from last spring.

38-year-old Alajuwon Johnson of Taft Avenue was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 10:30 Tuesday night. Police say just after 11:30 on the night of June 10th, Johnson was at the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street when he fired a gun at a person who was running away. Johnson pursued the person on foot as he continued firing. Several other people who were standing around the area fled in different directions.

The incident was caught on surveillance video, and shell casings were located at the scene.

Johnson was arrested Tuesday night after police received a tip that he was inside an apartment on Petsel Place with a person who has a no-contact order against him.

Johnson is charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon Provoking Fear and violating a no-contact order. If convicted on the weapons charge, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
