Driving on I380 with a gas station nozzle and hose dangling from his vehicle has led to the arrest of a Cedar Rapids man on OWI charges.

Police were alerted to the presence of a reckless driver Monday around 12:15 am on the southbound portion of the road near the North Liberty exit. 52-year-old Sterling Robertson of Beaver Avenue SE had been reported as driving slowly and with the hose from a gas pump dangling from his GMC Sierra.

Upon contact, Robertson reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and was allegedly incoherent. He reportedly showed measurable impairment on field tests, provided a PBT showing a zero blood-alcohol level, and refused Datamaster and urine testing.

Robertson was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
