The sole remaining LGBTQ bar in Cedar Rapids has been given a reprieve as it has been sold to the owner of Iowa City’s Studio 13.

The Gazette reports that the Corridor Entertainment Group reached an agreement with Belle’s Basix to purchase the business from outgoing owner Andrew Harrison, who announced its February 1st closure after a ten-year run. He cited the pandemic, which caused the bar to be closed for months, along with a dip in income and rise in expenses.

Jason Zeman, one of the partners in the Corridor Entertainment Group, says he hopes to reopen the business as Basix after renovations and approval of new liquor licensing by the end of February. The group also owns Players Sports Bar & Grill, the Joystick Comedy Arcade, Eden, and Sanctuary Pub.
