Swisher city council to hold second vote on proposed UTV ordinance Monday night

The Swisher city council will consider the second reading of an ordinance that would allow utility vehicles to use public streets.

The proposed amendment to city code would allow residents to operate UTV’s on certain city streets. Golf carts are already allowed, and some residents argue they’re no different than UTV’s.
Under the proposed change, UTV’s could be operated on certain streets as long as they’re registered with the city and the operator pays an annual fee of $10.

The reading passed the first of three required votes last month.

Monday night’s public hearing begins at 7pm at the Swisher Library on 2nd Street.
