North Liberty man accused of holding knife to wife’s throat while making threats

A North Liberty man faces charges that he held a knife to his wife’s throat while making threats against her life.

North Liberty Police were called to a residence in the Golfview Estates manufactured housing community just after 11:15 Friday morning. Investigators say 65-year-old Renson Aguasviva-Martinez of West Cherry Street held a kitchen knife to his wife’s throat and pulled her hair while threatening to kill her.

Aguasviva-Martinez allegedly admitted to using a knife during the incident. He’s charged with Domestic Abuse Assault While Using a Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in jail.
