A Coralville man was arrested for public intoxication earlier this week in North Liberty after being found walking down the middle of a street before dawn.

Police observed 30-year-old Evan Dorsett of Boston Way walking down the middle of Front Street in the lane of traffic just before 5 am Wednesday. When they came in contact with him, Dorsett reportedly had slurred speech, impaired balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol. He also allegedly admitted to drinking, and refused a ride home from officers.

Dorsett reportedly attempted to walk away stumbling, and having a hard time keeping his balance. Officers tried to administer a preliminary breath test, but could only get a very poor sample.

Dorsett was arrested for public intoxication, and a subsequent search reportedly turned up 2 grams of marijuana and a digital scale. He was additionally charged with 2nd offense marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, Dorsett could face a jail term of up to 14 months.
