IC woman arrested after stabbing at The Hotel

A reported stabbing at The Chauncey has led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to room 1403 of the College Street high-rise just after 8:15 Tuesday night for a subject suffering from a stab wound. Arriving officers say they found 30-year-old Thu Hong Nguyen hiding inside of a closet. An investigation determined that Nguyen had pulled a knife from her pocket and stabbed the alleged victim in the inner thigh, requiring emergency medical treatment.

Marijuana and a marijuana pipe were allegedly found on Nguyen’s person, and police say more marijuana and a smoked marijuana joint were found in her coat pocket when she was being booked into the Johnson County Jail.

Nguyen is charged with Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense and Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Facility. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 17 years in prison.
