An Iowa City man began the new year by getting arrested for assault.
Iowa City Police were called to a fight at an apartment building on the 400 block of Highway 1 West just after midnight Saturday. Responding officers were told one of the building’s residents, 57-year-old Shawn Butler, had punched another man in the face. The alleged victim suffered bruising around his left eye.
Butler was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
