An Iowa City man has been taken into custody after threatening someone with a crowbar.

Police say the incident occurred a little after 9pm Thursday night. They say that over the past week, 33-year-old Christopher Cummings of South Johnson Street and another tenant in the apartment building have had an ongoing feud.

Things allegedly came to a head when Cummings was retrieving a pizza that had been delivered to him. He and the other tenant engaged in a verbal argument, and Cummings allegedly threatened to hit the victim in the face with a crowbar he was holding.

The incident was observed by the delivery driver, who saw the argument and reportedly heard the victim tell Cummings to get away from his door.

Under Miranda, Cummings reportedly admitted to arguing with the other tenant and having the crowbar with him.

He’s been charged with Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon and 2nd degree Harassment. If convicted on both counts, Cummings could be sentenced to up to three years in jail.
