A Tiffin man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after being accused of taking cash from his place of employment.

50-year-old Marvis Dixon of East Street was called in by his employer at the Casey’s on Commerce Drive in Coralville after the Asset Protection manager stated they observed him taking money from the cash register and putting it into his pockets multiple times.  Dixon allegedly told loss prevention that he took approximately $700 over a period beginning December 19th and ending Wednesday.

Under Miranda, Dixon told authorities he took somewhere between $600-$700 over the past couple of weeks.

Dixon has been charged with 4th degree theft, a serious misdemeanor. He could be sentenced to up to a year in jail if convicted.
