An Iowa City man has been arrested after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday night in Coralville.

Coralville Police were called to the accident scene at Club Car Wash on the Coralville Strip just before 5:15 Tuesday night. Responding officers found a black Ram pickup behind a white Ford pickup. Police say the driver of the Ram, identified as 18-year-old Marquelle Jones of South Scott Boulevard, kept coming up to the police car during the investigation and resting his arms on the door. The arresting officer says that’s when he noticed the smell of ingested alcohol and Jones’ bloodshot eyes.

Jones’ passenger allegedly admitted to drinking earlier in the evening, but Jones denied consuming alcohol. He allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a breath alcohol level above the legal limit of .08%.

Jones was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated. Police say he refused further testing at the Coralville Police station and kept interrupting officers during the post-arrest interviews.
