Allegedly attacking his wife with a cane has led to a Coralville man’s arrest on a felony assault charge.

Coralville Police say the alleged victim left an apartment on 9th Street after her husband, 58-year-old Robert Manning, became agitated. Manning allegedly followed the woman to her car. Police say when his wife tried to back out of her stall, Manning started hitting her car with his cane.

The woman rolled down her window so Manning wouldn’t break it, so he allegedly tried hitting her with his cane. The woman blocked it with her arm, but she told investigators she suffered pain across the knuckles of her left hand.

Manning was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
