A Rock Island Illinois man has been identified as the unknown person involved in a pursuit by officers on Monday afternoon.
According to the arrest report, the man fled from a traffic stop at Hawkins Drive and For the Kids Way at 4:40 pm on foot and refused to stop for several commands. During the pursuit, the unknown man was reportedly observed throwing a pistol from his person as he ran.
Once caught, he refused to provide his name to officers, and apparently had no identification on him. The original arrest report referred to the man as “unknown,” while he was listed in the Johnson County Jail inmate roster as “John Doe.”
He’s now been identified as 22-year-old Ahmad Pulliam of 6th Street in Rock Island. He faces a charge of interference with official acts involving a firearm, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
Pulliam was reportedly the passenger in a vehicle operated by 28-year-old Charles Walker, also of Rock Island. He faces a number of charges after allegedly being observed going the wrong way on a roundabout and failing to stop after an officer activated lights and siren at the intersection of Grand and Melrose Avenues. Walker reportedly ran a red light at Melrose and Melrose Court, and finally stopped near Hawkins Drive and For the Kids Way. A search of his vehicle found over 53 grams of marijuana.
Walker has been charged with OWI first offense, Eluding, and 3rd or subsequent Marijuana Possession. He could be sentenced to up to eight years in prison if convicted on all counts.
