A Cedar Rapids man’s alibi for being in a parked and running pickup early Monday despite being barred didn’t fly with a Johnson County deputy who took him into custody.
According to the arrest report, 39-year-old Zachary Adams of Saint Olav Street Southwest was in the parking lot of Guppies in Swisher just before 12:30 am. He was behind the wheel of a 1998 Dodge Ram with his girlfriend.
When asked how the vehicle got to the location, Adams allegedly told the deputy that his brother drove the truck there and left him there while he picked up his father in Cedar Rapids. According to the deputy, the pickup was filled with various items and could not have accommodated three people in the cabin, leading him to believe that Adams himself drove the truck to that location.
Adams was arrested and charged with Driving While Barred, an aggravated misdemeanor. It’s the twelfth time he’s been charged with the offense since June of 2020.
