Coralville man reportedly threw woman to ground several times in domestic incident

A Coralville man was arrested after a domestic incident at his residence Sunday morning.

According to police, 21-year-old Coleton Lewis of 9th Street and the woman he has an infant child with got into a verbal argument around 10:30 am. Lewis allegedly got so angry during the argument that he grabbed the woman by the shoulders and shook her repeatedly.

The victim was sitting on the couch and tried to stand up but was pushed down by the face. She was able to walk out of the residence and was followed by Lewis. She stated that she fell down but doesn’t remember how. Police say that when the woman was on the ground, Lewis picked her up and threw her back down two or three times.

The woman hit her head on the concrete, causing swelling and pain. She also suffered a cut to her lips.

Lewis was taken into custody. He’s charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
