An Illinois woman has been arrested for allegedly disruptive and assaultive behavior at an Iowa City store.

Police say 20-year-old Deanna James of Dolton Illinois was at the Dollar General store on Highway 1 West Monday around 7:30 pm. According to staff, the woman was cursing and causing issues inside the store. An reported victim advised that she got into a verbal argument with James. James then allegedly took a box off a nearby shelf and threw it at the victim, hitting her in the face.

Staff members told James to leave, but she reportedly ignored their directions and continued to be disruptive inside the store. Authorities were called, and as they took James into custody, she reportedly resisted and kicked an officer in the leg.

James has been charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, Interference with Official Acts, simple Assault, and Trespass. If convicted on all counts, she faces up to 14 months in jail.
