An Iowa City man has been arrested on a warrant stemming from a harassment incident earlier this month.

Police say 37-year-old Alajuwon Johnson and the woman involved have had a violent past that includes at least one no-contact order that had been lifted this year. The woman says that she lives in fear for her safety, and began receiving threatening phone calls and texts from Johnson December 4th. He allegedly stated that he would come to the woman’s residence and assault her and everyone who lives there. When she told Johnson she was going to call 911, he reportedly said he didn’t care if he went back to jail.

The woman told police that she’s afraid Johnson will kill her.

A warrant was issued on December 6th; Johnson was booked at the Johnson County Jail Sunday evening. He’s been charged with Harassment in the second degree, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.

A new no-contact order was requested by the victim.
