North Liberty man facing assault charges from Sunday afternoon incident

A North Liberty man who allegedly went after a woman who left a residence after the two were arguing now faces assault charges.

Police say the incident occurred Sunday afternoon at around 5:30. 46-year-old Nahid Fadl Allah of Watercress Road and the woman were in a verbal argument until the woman removed herself from the house and walked away to get a ride from a friend.

Fadl Allah reportedly searched for the woman to bring her home. According to the woman, he had grabbed, scratched, bit and choked her. A witness to the incident indicated that Fadl Allah punched the woman.

When asked about the altercation, Fadl Allah stated that he hugged the woman, trying to get her to go back home.

Police took Fadl Allah into custody and charged him with Domestic Abuse Assault, a serious misdemeanor. He could face up to a year in jail if convicted on the charge. A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
