Iowa City woman arrested after allegedly cashing fraudulent check

An Iowa City woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from an alleged forgery earlier this year.

According to the arrest report, 44-year-old Priscilla Miller of Cross Park Avenue cashed a fraudulent check at Acapulco Mexican Bakery on Keokuk Street the afternoon of September 3rd. The check totaled over $1950.

The company the check was from stated that Miller was never an employee for them and stated the check was fictitious.

Miller allegedly admitted to cashing the check, and a warrant was issued for her arrest on Friday. She was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 3:21 am Monday. Miller faces two Class D felonies of Forgery and 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, she could be sentenced to a maximum of ten years in prison.
