The Johnson County Auditor’s Office has sent map proposals to city officials from Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and Tiffin. The move follows the approval of redistricting maps by the Iowa Legislature on Oct. 28th, which were approved by Governor Kim Reynolds on Nov. 4th.

The next step in the process involves counties and cities reviewing and redrawing precinct boundaries. Upon approval from the cities and county, precinct maps will go into effect on Jan. 15, 2022. All registered voters in Johnson County will be sent new voter registration cards. The first scheduled election using the new precincts will be the Primary Election on June 7, 2022.

Before approval, the cities and the county will hold public input sessions, and a schedule will be announced by those entities at a later date. The public is invited to view the proposed precinct maps at https://johnsoncountyiowa.gov/2022-reprecincting. The site also includes an interactive program to view precinct population numbers and the ability to get a more detailed view of precinct layout.
