Cedar Rapids firefighters fought an early Tuesday morning blaze near the Eastern Iowa Airport.
According to a CRFD news release, crews were called to a building at 9900 6th Street SW, just south of Wright Brothers Boulevard along Interstate 380, just before 1:15am. Arriving firefighters report seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of a utility shop. Four engines and a ladder truck brought the blaze under control within a half-hour.
There were no reported injuries, but there was fire, smoke, and water damage throughout the structure.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
