Carrying the cover to an electrical box through downtown Iowa City in the overnight hours has resulted in a 19-year-old man’s arrest.

Arrest reports indicate that Bryer Atwater of North Lucas Street was crossing Court Street near its intersection with Gilbert Street, carrying a cover for an electrical box. The officer stopped her squad car to talk to Atwater, but he allegedly started running.

The officer told Atwater to stop, and he reportedly put the cover down and started walking away before the officer stopped Atwater.

He admitted to consuming alcohol and allegedly had slurred speech. The officer asked for Atwater’s ID and produced a fake Iowa ID from his wallet. He also reportedly had another fake ID from Missouri.

Atwater has been charged with Public Intoxication, and possession of a fictitious ID. He faces up to 13 months in jail if convicted on both counts.
