An Iowa City woman who was eventually found competent to stand trial on a litany of charges has been arrested after violating the terms of her pretrial supervision.

Diana Dejesus Rivera of the Hilltop manufactured housing community faces several charges from incidents in 2020. They include Assault on Peace Officers, Burglary, Domestic Assault, Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, and Assault by Inmate with Bodily Fluids or Secretions between March 12th and December 31st of that year.

A competency hearing was held on February 22nd and Rivera was ordered to undergo treatment. Her competency was restored by the court on October 11th, allowing her to be prosecuted.

The next day, Rivera was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations and Assault Causing Bodily Injury.

On November 10th, she was being transferred to the University of Iowa Emergency Room for committal. While nursing staff was attending to her, Rivera allegedly punched a staff member in the face, and kicked a police officer in the chest.

As part of her pretrial release, Rivera was to notify her supervisor of any contact with law enforcement officials.

On November 16th, the Department of Correctional Services requested and obtained a warrant for Rivera’s arrest. She was taken into custody the next day, and she remains at the Johnson County Jail awaiting a Case Management Conference on charges this Monday.
