A Coralville woman was taken into custody this week on a warrant stemming from a Domestic Abuse charge from October.

Police say that the evening of October 4th, 30-year-old Asia Ricks of 2nd Street and her boyfriend began arguing. The altercation continued outside the residence near the man’s vehicle, with Ricks calling him names that he reportedly did not like. He took his car keys away from Ricks, who allegedly responded by striking him in the face with a glass Mason jar.

The man reportedly had multiple contusions on his forehead, and eyebrow, and a swollen lip. A large amount of blood was observed on the man’s face, shirt and hands, and a large area of road rash from when Ricks allegedly pulled him to the ground.

The couple reported that they had been in an intimate relationship since April of this year, and have lived together since that time.

A warrant was requested for Ricks’ arrest, and she was taken into custody Wednesday. She faces one count of Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor. A no-contact order was requested and granted by judge Jason Burns the following day, and Ricks was released on her own recognizance pending further court proceedings.
