Iowa City police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred November 7th involving two young children.
The Gazette reports the incident happened at an apartment complex on Foster Road that afternoon and was only referred to in the daily activity log as a “stab/gunshot/penetrating trauma” involving a 5 year old.
Public Safety Information Officer Lee Hermiston confirmed in an email to the newspaper that the department is actively investigating the incident, but due to the ages of those involved and it being an open investigation, will not be releasing any more information at this time.
Whether one of the children were shot, how severe the injuries may be, the ages of the children, their relation to each other or how they gained access to the gun have yet to be answered.
