A Cedar Rapids man faces up to seven years in prison after allegedly being found with a large quantity of marijuana during an OWI stop this past weekend.

Police say the incident occurred just before 3 am on the 200 block of East Court Street Saturday. 19-year-old Isiah Mally of Woodland Court Northwest was pulled over for driving with his headlights off. Upon contact, he allegedly had the odor of ingested alcohol, and the vehicle smelled like marijuana.

Mally reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, and unsteady balance. He allegedly admitted to drinking, and submitted to a preliminary breath test showing his blood-alcohol level at .127 percent. The Datamaster reading came up at .120 percent.

A search reportedly turned up over 53 grams of marijuana and a scale in Mally’s trunk in a backpack.

He was arrested and charged with first offense OWI, Marijuana possession, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. Judge Christine Boyer released him Monday, appointed a public defender for him, and set a preliminary hearing for December 2nd.
