Iowa City City Councilor Janice Weiner is planning a run for the Iowa Senate in 2022.
Although she hasn’t made an official announcement yet, the Daily Iowan reports that her Facebook Page has been updated from “Janice for City Council” to “Janice for Senate.” She confirmed her plans to the newspaper in an email and phone call.
Senator Joe Bolkcom of Iowa City is up for reelection in the newly drawn District 45, but announced that he will not be running. Weiner, a lifelong Iowa City resident, plans to announce her campaign sometime this week.
