A Chicago man riding a bicycle without a light at night allegedly started taking his clothes off to fight police when stopped.
The incident reportedly occurred November 9th just after 9:30 pm in the area of Sandusky Avenue and Broadway Street. 45-year-old George Jackson was observed by an officer on a bike without a light. The officer attempted to stop Jackson, but he allegedly continued to ride his bicycle away and stated that he wasn’t going to stop. He eventually did stop, and the officer said Jackson smelled strongly of ingested alcohol, with slurred speech, impaired balance and bloodshot watery eyes.
Jackson was asked to step off his bicycle, to which he eventually complied, but according to the arrest report then “began aggressively taking off his clothes.” He reportedly postured in an aggressive manner and the officer handcuffed him.
Jackson made several comments about assaulting the officer during handcuffing. He also allegedly stated he was intoxicated but refused a post arrest PBT.
Jackson was charged with public intoxication. He was jailed for 12 hours and sentenced to time served by Judge Deborah Minot the next day.
