Allegedly assaulting staff and a police officer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.

The incident occurred just before 10pm Wednesday. Iowa City Police say their officers were at the UIHC assisting in the committal for 27-year-old Diana Rivera of the Hilltop manufactured housing community when she punched a nurse in the face as the nurse was trying to obtain her vital signs. During the ensuing struggle Rivera allegedly kicked an ICPD officer in the chest.

Rivera was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5pm Friday and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of two years in jail.
