A Fort Madison man was reportedly over three times the legal limit to drive when Iowa City police arrested him for OWI early Sunday morning.
22-year-old Logan Allen was allegedly discovered in the200 block of South Capitol Street passed out at the wheel of a Chevrolet Colorado just after 3:30 am. The vehicle was running, and police say they had to use unlock tools to open the vehicle because they were unable to wake Allen up after several attempts to do so.
Allen reportedly admitted to being intoxicated, and had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the strong odor of ingested alcohol.
A PBT showed Allen’s blood alcohol level at .250 percent; a Datamaster showed an even higher reading of .265.
Allen was charged with1st offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
