A Marion man attending a concert at the Englert Theatre Wednesday night was arrested after reportedly refusing to leave the premises and scuffling with police…the second such incident at the venue within the last week.
The latest incident involves officers being called to the theatre just after 10pm Wednesday on reports of a trespass. They were informed by staff that a patron, identified as 64-year-old Lewis Moran, would not leave following a concert by Todd Snider. Moran still refused to leave after being asked by police to do so, and reportedly pushed an officer. He also refused to submit to handcuffing and resisted arrest.
Moran was taken into custody and charged with Trespass, Interference with Official Acts, and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted, he faces a jail sentence of up to 13 months.
Last Friday 44-year-old Taylor Matteson of Cedar Rapids was arrested at the Enlgert for Public Intoxication and Harassment of a Public Official at the John Hiatt concert. Police say Matteson had been causing problems with other patrons and Englert staff, then refused to give officers his proper ID.
