A Coralville man faces drug and weapons charges after an election night police raid at his residence.
According to arrest records, Iowa City Police served a search warrant at the Holiday Road apartment of 24-year-old Kiante Davis just before 8:30 Tuesday night. Investigators say they found about 516 grams of raw marijuana in a pair of vacuum-sealed bags, approximately 382 grams of pre-packaged marijuana in 38 separate packages, and ten bars of Xanax. They also allegedly discovered a large amount of U.S. currency, plastic bags for packaging, a digital scale, and an M85 5.56 caliber pistol.
Police say Davis admitted to selling marijuana, and to smoking it every day since high school.
Records show last July Davis signed a statement when buying the gun at Scheels indicating he was not a user of illegal drugs.
Davis is charged with Giving False Information in Acquiring a Weapon, two Controlled Substance Violations and one count each of Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp and Possession or Use of a False Drug Tax Stamp. If convicted on all charges, Davis faces a maximum of 22 years in prison.
