Tuesday night was election night, and there were a number of contested city and school board races.
Mayor Bruce Teague and Megan Alter easily defeated Jason Glass in the Iowa City city council race.
The Coralville city council race was more hotly-contested, as Hai Huynh, Laurie Goodrich and Mike Knutson edged out Cindy Riley.
Chris Hoffman won the North Liberty mayoral race over Mike Mbanza by an almost 3-to-1 margin.
Kyle Volk and Kris Walter ran away with the Oxford city council race over three other candidates.
The Hills city council race saw Jonathan Goldsmith and Emily Hudachek win, with Hudachek finishing only seven votes ahead of Teresa Volk.
Josh Spilman won the Lone Tree mayoral race over Joanne Havel.
Winners in the Iowa City school board race were J.P. Claussen, Ruthina A Malone and Jayne Finch.
The Clear Creek Amana school board race saw victories in contested races by Shaun Kukuzke, Kara Prickett and Jennifer Downes.
Cassie Rochholz, Dan Coons and Timothy Brown were all elected to the Solon school board.
The Iowa City school district physical plant levy and revenue purpose statement both passed overwhelmingly, as did the Solon local option sales tax.
Four elected positions in Johnson County will be decided by write-in votes. They include Oxford mayor and city council seats in Solon, Lone Tree, Swisher.
