Cedar Rapids Police have identified the suspect they’ve arrested in connection with a weekend shooting.

Just before 9 pm Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of 4th Avenue Southeast for a report of a gunshot victim. They came upon 39-year-old Beau Kopp, who had been shot in the abdomen. First aid was administered on scene before Kopp was transported to a local hospital. The injury was not believed to be life-threatening.

The initial investigation determined that Kopp was involved in a verbal altercation with an individual from a group of three, when he was shot by one of the suspects. That suspect was identified as 17-year-old Corey Lamar Cullar Jr. He was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury, and Going Armed with Intent. He is being held at the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police are continuing their investigation.
