Coralville department store employee accused of stealing over $1,000 from cash registers

A Coralville department store employee faces charges that she stole over $1,000 in cash and merchandise from the business.

19-year-old Spirit Hall-Carpenter of Shady Glen Court was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:45 Thursday afternoon. Coralville Police say management at Kohl’s on Commerce Drive conducted an investigation into cash shortages from registers Hall-Carpenter had used.  Surveillance video allegedly shows three separate occasions during a five-day span where Hall-Carpenter pocketed cash and merchandise totaling $1,385.

Hall-Carpenter is charged with 3rd Degree Theft, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison.
