A University of Iowa student is accused of being drunk when she drove to the Johnson County Jail to pick up a friend.

That’s according to Iowa City Police, who say 21-year-old Hannah Johnson of Geneseo, Illinois arrived at the jail just after 2:45am Thursday morning in a 2007 Ford Explorer. Jail staff say they turned Johnson away due to her intoxication level, and an Iowa City Police officer followed her back to her car. She was allegedly behind the wheel with the engine running, and showed signs of intoxication. Police say Johnson failed an initial breath test, and performed poorly on field sobriety testing.

Johnson was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
