A Tiffin man has been arrested after Iowa City Police say they found a gun and drugs in his car.
41-year-old Kenneth Roy of the Clear Creek manufactured housing community was pulled over near the corner of Gilbert Street and McCollister Boulevard just after 12:30 Tuesday afternoon. An Iowa City Police officer had run the plates on Roy’s 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo and discovered his license was suspended.
The arresting officer claims Roy’s vehicle smelled of raw marijuana. A probable cause search allegedly turned up marijuana and a used marijuana pipe next to a handgun. Police say Roy admitted ownership of all three items.
Roy was arrested and charged with Persons Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over three years in prison.
