IC Police release 10/18/21 |
On Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at approximately 6:37 p.m., Iowa City Police responded to Highway 6 and Sycamore Street for a traffic crash. Officers located a single vehicle with one unconscious person inside. It was discovered he had suffered a gunshot wound. It was determined the lone occupant, a 20-year-old man, was in the vehicle and traveling eastbound on Highway 6 when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the median west of the intersection with Sycamore Street.
The man was transported by Johnson County Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics remains in critical condition. The incident remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any potential footage or information about this incident.
