University of Iowa Police have arrested a man they say tried to tear down the fencing inside a construction zone.
Officers observed 19-year-old Owen Elwonger of Summerfield, North Carolina inside the fenced-off construction zone at the corner of Washington and Madison Streets southwest of the Pentacrest just before 2:30 Sunday morning. Police say Elwonger was trying to tear down the fencing. He allegedly showed signs of intoxication, and was in possession of two ID’s. One was completely fictitious; the other belonged to another individual.
Elwonger was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Making False Licenses or ID Forms. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
