Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a pair of Friday shooting incidents.

The first was reported just after 4:45pm at the Wilson Avenue Dairy Queen. Responding officers learned that two bail bondsmen were attempting to take 40-year old Richard Dean Hamilton, Jr. into custody.  Hamilton was wanted on failure to appear warrants related to drug charges.  During the attempted arrest, shots were fired by one of the bondsmen resulting in injuries to Hamilton.  Hamilton was later located by police at a residence in the 2200 block of D St. SW.  Hamilton was transported to a local hospital for treatment of wounds that appear to be non-life threatening.

One of the bail bondsmen was injured when he was struck by the vehicle Hamilton was driving as he was attempting to escape.  He was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The second shooting was reported just before 9:45pm on the 800 block of Camburn Court SE. Arriving officers located two gunshot victims with non-life threatening injuries, as well as shell casings from the shooting. Investigators say the Camburn Court incident appears to be a targeted shooting.
